Dr Nadia Ali Eltom, Executive Director of Almanar Voluntary Organization

  • Nadia Ali Altom, is the executive director of Almanar Voluntary Organization since 2009. Nadia completed her studies and gained the B.Sc. certificate in sociology, post graduate diploma in social work, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in demography.
  • Her experience career started with ministry of welfare and social development, department of family then as a Field Coordinator at the Community Based Family Health Project, Department of Community Medicine, Khartoum University in Collaboration with the Center of Population and Family Health, Columbia University. Then Social Scientist in the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum.
  • Nadia worked for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) from 1997-1998 as a reproductive health advisor then joined UNFPA as M&E consultant for six months. Nadia re- joined IRC in 1999 until 2009 in different jobs as a health education coordinator, capacity building program manager, development program coordinator, (programs under her portfolio included: Gender and Development, Capacity Building, Human Rights, and Peace Building). And as a Regional Program Coordinator for post conflict Programs and as a deputy director for IRC.
  • Nadia’s expertise/ skills are Civil Society Development, Community Driven programming, Technical Writing & program development, demography with focus on reproductive Health issues, and research Methodology.
  • Nadia is committed to human rights from gender perspective, peace and conflict resolution, empowerment of women through advocacy for gender equity and equality.

Dr. Magda M. A. Ali , Founding member and Secretary of the Board of Directors

  • After gaining her medical degree and two MScs in Clinical Tropical Medicine (LSTMH 1977) and Community Medicine (Uof K, 1978), Dr. Ali continued her medical career in 1980 as a community physician with the Ministry of Health in Sudan; then became Assistant Director of the Primary Health Department, and subsequently Director of the National Control of Diarrheal Disease Program from 1985 to 1989. Since 1990 she has been a consultant and facilitator to several NGOs, including AMAL group for Street Children (Khartoum), and Planned Parenthood (Sudan). During 2005/6 she served as an Independent Board Member for the Humanitarian Aid Partnership International (Geneva, Switzerland). She is the co-founder Al Wafaa Group (Sudan, 1989), Women Action Group, Ma’an Women Group (Cairo, Egypt, 1996), and founding member of the Group for Alternative Policies for Sudan (GAPS 1997) Dr. Ali has submitted conference papers and conducted studies on many Public Health issues.

Lamis

  • Lameis is a highly qualified business administration graduate with certificates in project cycle management, financial management, M&E, and result-based management. With 8 years of experience in the grants and program management field at Almanar, Lameis has gained valuable expertise in technical, managerial, and leadership roles. As a Grants Officer for 3 years and a Program Manager for 5 years, she successfully developed, managed, and supervised the implementation of various projects, including protection/GBV projects, civic education initiatives, women and youth empowerment programs, and community development projects. Additionally, Lameis led the management and implementation of UNHCR Health and Nutrition programs for over 5 years.
  • Lameis has a proven track record in effectively managing multiple projects, developing and maintaining program strategies, managing budgets, and leading diverse teams across Sudan. She possesses a strong understanding of Almanar's main donors' guidelines, obligations, policies, systems, and operating procedures. Furthermore, Lameis serves as the focal point for concerns related to PSEA, AAP, and Gender at Almanar.
